From Wannabe to Watercolour: Wendy’s Ocean-Inspired Creative Journey

At TIDAL ArtS, we believe everyone has a creative spark—and sometimes, it just takes the right wave to set it in motion. For Wendy Namisnik, one of our very own team members, that wave arrived at 51 through a YouTube tutorial and a simple “what if.”

“I always wished I could draw and paint as a kid. Finally at 51, I came across an Andrea Nelson watercolor tutorial on YouTube, and I thought—I can do that. I watched more and more tutorials from different creators, and I really started to enjoy it.”

Wendy’s ocean-themed series, featured below, was born from this late-blooming passion and a deep love of the sea. Created with guidance from online tutorials, each piece is a celebration of the gifts our waters offer—from peace and play to stories and sea creatures.

Despite calling herself a “wannabe artist,” Wendy’s artwork speaks of something profoundly authentic: joy in the process and pride in the result.

“I know I’m not great, and I’m still learning, but it makes me happy while I’m painting and when I see my finished piece.”

At the heart of her journey is a beautiful reminder that art doesn’t have to be perfect to be powerful—it just has to be true to you. Wendy’s story is a tribute to trying, to making time for creativity, and to reconnecting with the magic of the ocean in a personal, expressive way.

“I’m really excited to see what the TIDAL ArtS artists will create over the next few years, and I’m so happy to be part of a project where we can offer truly gifted artists a chance to do something tangible for our ocean and waters.”

We’re proud to share Wendy’s story and artwork as part of our celebration of community, creativity, and care for our oceans.
