ABOUT THE HOST
The Árpád Museum in Ráckeve, housed in the neo-Baroque Münich House, serves as a significant cultural institution for the region. Established in 1963, the museum features notable permanent exhibitions such as “History Along the Danube” and “Millers and the Ship-Mills,” which highlight the area’s historical and cultural legacy. Additionally, the museum organises six to seven temporary exhibitions annually, encompassing history, archaeology, ethnography, fine arts, and applied arts. These events, typically held on the first floor, enhance its reputation as a vibrant cultural center and attract a wide audience. The Museum acts as the center of underwater archaeological research for the country.
The museum is also active in educational initiatives, offering programs for students and families, such as museum classes and interactive activities. Its efforts to preserve and present the historical and artistic heritage of the Csepel Island region make it a cornerstone of local cultural tourism.
ABOUT THE LOCATION
The Danube River links the Black Sea basin with the North Sea basin via the Danube–Main–Rhine waterway. The Danube River connects parts of 19 countries and stretches 2860 kilometers. It is related to many events that are significant to regional and European history as empires have risen and fallen while fighting for control of land through which the river passes. The Danube has been featured in literature for thousands of years and is included in the anthems of five countries. In respect to the Danube River Convention, International Danube Day is celebrated on June 29 throughout the Danube River Basin.
Much of the riparian vegetation has been destroyed by deforestation and river regulation, especially in the Upper Danube; however, significant amounts of riparian vegetation are still present in larger floodplain areas in the Middle and Lower Danube. Approximately 78 dams line the river, affecting the hydromorphology of the river-floodplain ecosystem; flooding remains an integral issue to the surrounding communities.

| Accommodation | Six weeks of accommodation is paid for by TIDAL ArtS. Artists will be given a budget along with recommendations of hotels and guest houses for booking, such as: Duna Relax Hotel, Tranzit Guest house, Aqua Land Timber villa-park, Petre House, and local guest-houses and -rooms in the landside or on an island (connected only by a boat). Accommodation will be arranged within the city, with the help of the host. | |
| Place to Work & Storage Space | The artist, in collaboration with the Árpád Museum and the host, will have the liberty to utilize any of the museum’s three buildings and their associated outdoor spaces. Should additional space be required, the host will assist in facilitating access to other institutions or locations within the city or its surroundings. | |
