TIDAL ArtS Residencies Kick Off Across Europe

The TIDAL ArtS residency programme is about to begin, with four exciting kick-off events taking place across Europe this May and June. These events mark the start of a year-long journey where artists will collaborate with local communities, researchers, and environments to explore the future of our oceans and waterways.

Each residency is rooted in a unique location connected to the EU’s Restore Our Ocean and Waters Mission, setting the stage for creative exploration, dialogue, and action.

 

 

Residency Kick-Off Dates

The programme will officially launch in the following locations:

  • Venice, Italy – 12 May, Ocean Space, Venice
  • Danube, Hungary – 19 May, Pro Progressione, Budapest
  • Turku, Finland – 10 June, Åbo Akademi University, Turku
  • Azores, Portugal – 25 June, Vaga, São Miguel

 

These events will introduce the artists and begin their engagement with local communities.

Co-Creation Sessions

Each residency kick-off will be paired with an in-person co-creation workshop, bringing together local communities, stakeholders, and project partners.

Inside the Interspecies Assembly Workshop at the kickoff of the Venice Residency, where Klara Kofen presented her project at Ocean Space.

These 2.5-hour sessions are designed to:

  • Introduce the artist and their project
  • Gather local insights, perspectives, and expectations
  • Build connections that will shape the direction of each residency

Participants will take part in collaborative activities exploring local relationships with water, community knowledge, and shared challenges, ensuring each project is grounded in its local context.
