On 26 August 2025, University College Cork’s Sustainability Institute hosted a unique one-day international workshop titled “Where Art and Science Meet: Experience Sharing from Ocean to Land”. Supported by Shift Cost Action and the TIDAL ArtS project, this event was designed to inspire attendees through real-world examples of how artistic and scientific practices can intersect and collaborate.

The workshop welcomed international speakers from Hungary, Italy, Portugal (Azores), and Finland who share their experience regarding art-based residencies. 

 Attila Toth from Hungary shared the experience of collaborating with creatives and artists.

Benedetta D’Ettorre from Italy brought the Case of TBA21 and TBA21-Academy. 

Jesse James from Portugal shared various practices and festivals as well as the underlying philosophy behind the ongoing collaborations merging art and science.

Taru Elfving from Finland brought her presentation regarding the Site-Sensitive Residencies on the Shifting Shorelines.

All speakers joined a Panel discussion where more insights were brought especially in terms of impact.

During the workshop, participants also co-created a Living Catalogue of more than 60 projects which reflect the diversity of art&science collaborations. Click on the link below to view.
